Schedule for the 2008 Wilderness Adventure walk to Ketchem Bay

Price - $1890

Sunday March 2 2008
After preparation and briefing our party will fly from Hobart by light aircraft to the South West either through the mountainous terrain or via the spectacular South Coast with the rest of the day to spend walking and enjoying the long beach at Cox’s Bight. Our first night will be spent camped by the beach, one of the great remote ocean beaches of South West Tasmania. The roar of surf makes a great background for our evening around the camp.

Monday March 3 2008
After a relaxing start to the day we will walk to New Harbour for our next camp. Our route covers undulating button grass plains a small patch of forest and a creek crossing. Our camp is situated in open forest near the sea.

Tuesday March 4 2008
After breakfast we can enjoy a side trip across open plains to George’s Falls, a secluded and beautiful spot where great photographs can be created with a wide angle lens. In fact, photographic opportunities are everywhere around New Harbour particularly at first light on a still morning.
In the afternoon we begin with a short steep climb through rainforest to the open ridges and enjoy coastal views on our walk to Hidden Bay for our third camp beside the creek.

Wednesday March 5 2008
Today will be another highlight of this memorable walk. An easy day walk to Ketchem Bay with great ocean views looking west towards South West Cape which is one of the great Capes of the Southern hemisphere. Southern swells roll across the Indian Ocean from the Cape of Good Hope and the first land they hit is South West Cape. Ketchem Bay remains one of the most remote and beautiful places one could wish to visit.

Thursday March 6 2008

We will see a different aspect to the landscape as we walk back to new Harbour and across the button grass plains to Melaleuca for our scenic flight to Hobart.
